icon Important Notice

In order to ship IATA imposed new Shipping Regulations regarding Lithium Batteries. Lithium Batteries being shipped are only charged to 30% of capacity. When you receive this battery it may need to be charged. This is the battery charger we recommend for this battery: Shorai 6v/12v 2 Amp LFX Series Lithium Battery Charger Sho-BMS01

Overview

The Lithium Iron Phosphate battery is the ultimate in weight versus power technology. This battery weighs in at only 1.61 pounds and offers an incredible 210 C.C.A. This is a drop in replacement for your Lead-acid battery, and will require no change to your stock charging system.

Shorai LFX batteries contain Shorai-proprietary eXtreme-Rate Lithium Iron prismatic cells (chemistry LiFePO4). They contain no poisonous lead, no acid, and do not create gasses during charge, as traditional Lead-Acid batteries do. Compared to lead-acid, Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries are also extremely light, have much lower self-discharge, do not sulfate, and are environmentally friendly.

This is the heavy duty LFX14A2-BS12 battery. It offers an incredible 210 C.C.A., and the Lead-Acid Equivalent of 14 amp hours. It weighs in at only 1.61 pounds and yet still has the power to spin over even the most stubborn engines. Not only does this battery offer incredible advantaged over the lead-acid battery in weight, but also in physical size. This battery will effectively take the place of a YTX14AH-BS in power, but it is not larger than a YTX4L battery.

When it comes to Powersports applications and lithium batteries, BatteryStuff.com recommends that you use the best, most powerful version that will properly fit your application. Shorai may list several battery sizes in their application chart that will fit your bike, but in our opinion the small gains in weight are typically offset by the superior starting power offered in the upgraded versions. Should you not require the most powerful version, see the LFX09A2-BS12 for the less potent lithium alternative for this battery. It will be the exact same dimensions and terminal location as our recommended battery, but with a bit less capacity.

*BatteryStuff understands the importance of getting a replacement battery right away and usually ships all batteries the same day as ordered if received before 1:30pm (Pacific).

We recommend using these batteries in temperatures above 0 degrees Celsius. This battery may require spacers to make it work in your application. Included with this battery are foam spacers that will aid in fitting this battery. ** PbEq equals Lead-Acid Equivalent. This means that a 12 AH PbEq Lithium Iron Phosphate battery will perform the same as a 12 amp hour Lead-acid battery.

Partial review.

Really? Genius is a knowledge level? Maybe stick to some natural titles.

Battery comes with pads to help the customer stay comfortable with a smaller battery in a larger area. Nice touch. Other than that, no need to fluff. Batter works so far. Check back in about 3~4 years to see if the battery can outlast others based on using 5~6 days a week.

Cons:

Non so far.

Ensure you verify BEFORE you buy

Battery is compact and easy to install. May require an additional Batter Management Charger (#BMS01) if your motorcycle has a lead-acid charger with a "desulfation mode", "maintenance" chargers, "trickle" chargers, or any charger that uses above 14.4V.

What is not listed on this page: you cannot connect the LiFePO4 battery to lead-acid chargers with a "desulfation mode", "maintenance" chargers, "trickle" chargers, or any charger that uses above 14.4V. Check you motorcycles charge at idle with a voltmeter to ensure.

Cons:

The charger warning is not listed on this page, nor is listed on the outside of the box. The warning may be listed on other pages of this site, but should be included on the page listing each specific battery.

Great Battery

I bought this battery for the long life expectancy. I will have to wait and see how long the battery lasts.

Lithium batteries do not lose their charge very quickly like lead acids and they are not damaged by being left drained.

Installed in my 07 Yamaha R6 in October. I have been riding often this winter and the battery has been great so far. The bike turns over normally on 30F mornings. Rode one morning when it was 10 degrees F and the bike started (See cons). I bought this battery for the long life but the small size and weight are a bonus.

Cons:

Lithium Ions don't like the cold. The chemical reaction slows down and their power output drops. Luckily, turning your bike over heats the battery up very quickly. I experienced this one morning. The bike was barely turning over for 5 to 10 seconds. I stopped trying, waited 5 more seconds and tried again. The bike turned over normally and started right up. I do not plan to ride in 10F Temps often.

Battery Stuff Customer service

I bought a Shorai Lithium 14 AH 12 Volt Battery and it was defective. BatteryStuff usually has the customer deal directly with Shorai on these matters but my bike was getting a custom wiring harness done at the shop and I needed a new battery asap. BatteryStuff had one in my hands in two days. No questions just great service!

Cons:

Errr..none!

1980 Harley battery

I will never have to clean battery acid off my frame or any other part of my bikes.

I run the shorai lithiums in my 1972and1980 iron head Harley's and they are the bomb. They have what it takes to keep cranking a bike that is not known to be the most reliable and haven't let me down.

Cons:

So small I don't know what to do with the rest of the space in the battery tray.
