One Treatment Myth
The "One Treatment Last 50,000 Miles Myth"
Be sure to read the language of a product's claims ("Lasts up to 50,000 miles!"). Any product that promises to give long term benefits with a single treatment should be suspect. There are not only oil treatments making these claims but fuel additives also, a one time treatment is like saying taking an aspirin one time and claiming that it will protect you for six months.
In the case of friction oil treatments, every time you start the engine a little of that treatment goes away. Every time the oil viscosity breaks down a little of that treatment goes away. I am sure you get the picture.
High stress and temperature areas such as camshaft, valve stems, upper piston ring, etc., receive protection for a very short time. If you are going to receive 100% protection 100% of the time, the additive must be available upon demand. This is exactly how the additives in today's oils work, upon demand!
