Battery MINDer 12v 5 Watt Charger with Desulfation Controller SCC005
Product Description

BatteryMINDer 12 Volt 5 Watt Solar Charger

Increase Battery Life and Performance: Average battery life has become shorter as energy requirements have increased. Two phrases I hear most often are “My battery won’t take a charge” and “My battery won’t hold a charge”. Only 30% of batteries sold today reach the 48-month mark. In fact, 80% of all battery failure is related to sulfation buildup. This buildup occurs when the sulfur molecules in the electrolyte (battery acid) become so deeply discharged that they begin to coat the battery’s lead plates. Before long the plates become so coated that the battery dies. The causes of sulfation are numerous. Let me list some for you.

Every element known to man has a magnetic moment at a resonant frequency; i.e., a point at which the chemical bonds that hold the molecules together to form a crystal can be broken. Sulfation, the number one cause of early battery failure, is simply crystals of lead sulphate (PbSO4), which have formed on the lead storage plates in a lead-acid type battery.

When a battery is improperly charged or allowed to self-discharge, as occurs during storage/non- use, these crystals build up on the battery storage plates preventing the battery from ever being fully charged and therefore unable to deliver their full power/capacity.

VDC Electronics, Inc. has created a simple method of generating the required resonant frequency (3.26 megahertz pulse) to breakdown the lead sulphate crystals, allowing the molecules to return to the battery’s electrolyte. By creating a waveform with required 3.26 MHz frequency, coupled with a very fast rise time and a high amplitude pulse, more energy is developed to breakdown sulphation than by any other method believed to exist. On February 6, 2001 this unique approach was granted a US Patent.

The BatteryMINDer 12 Volt 5 Watt system will deliver up to 2 amps of charge current per sunny day. This system is ideal for battery maintenance and long term battery recovery. #SCC005 WILL NOT QUICKLY RECHARGE GOLF CART OR TROLLING MOTOR SIZED BATTERIES!

  • BatteryMINDer Solar Maintainer/Charger 12 Volt 5 Watt
  • Pulse Width Modulated/Microprocessor
  • High-Low Temperature Compensation
  • Works with Lead Acid batteries including Deep Cycle and Sealed AGM.
  • LED charge status and battery condition indicators
  • Reverse Polarity LED
  • Panel output 15 volts .333 amps (5 watts) in direct sunlight
  • 3 Stage Charge Controller
  • Full Time De-sulphation
  • 10' of output cord
If product is ordered via Air Delivery, a surcharge must be added for oversize package. This is one of the best buys you can make to maintain and recondition battery(s). BatteryMINDer uses a “Smart” Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) solar charge controller. This patented technology applies a high frequency pulse circuit that continually desulfates the batteries storage plates assuring maximum performance. Keeps batteries fully charged indefinitely without ever overcharging. Includes Solar panel, charger controller and battery condition indicator.

Pros: Price, specs, and quick delivery. We've not yet installed, but upon receiving, we performed a thorough check of the item, and it looks like it was just what we needed to keep a security system fully charged at all times.

Cons: None, yet.

Other Thoughts: Easy to order online = a big plus!

   Convenient for simple maintenance
By on Sep 18, 2015, Ownership: Use regularly, Knowledge Level: AC/DC is more than a band

Pros: Small PV, fits in about the space of your lap. comes with an interchangeable 7.5 amp fuse (car blade standard type). Although it won't even reach 1 amp current so no need for anything higher. Automatic, will continue to do its thing so long as it is hooked up right and has PV power to work with.

Cons: Had to buy a Battery Tender alligator clip accessory to use it with my car battery if you don't want to permanently attach it to your battery. Not a big deal, they don't cost too much, and are compatible with the charger setup.

Other Thoughts: I use this in my car when I have it parked outside for days, I put the PV panel on the dash board and the minder in a drink holder with the wire to the battery strung out the front driver side door, the door closes on the wire snugly without issues from weather or dmg to the wire, keeps the battery in tip top shape and you can hear the difference when you go to start up your engine, at least the first week you use it, since it'll always sound great after that. Just be careful how you run your wire in your engine so it doesn't get clipped by your hood. Happened to me once, that's what I get for doing it in the dark.
