The Samlex America PST-300-12 is a 12v 300-watt pure sine wave power inverter. The PST-300-12 takes 12 VDC and inverts it to produce 120 VAC. This allows you to run household devices off 12v battery power.
The Samlex PST-300-12 has a high 500-watt surge rating and a continuous output rating of 300 watts and features a Dual GFCI-protected outlet. The inverter can be hardwired on the input side, or you can use the alligator clips or 12v power adapter that comes with the unit.
Samlex PST-300-12 is a high-efficiency Pure Sine Wave DC to AC power inverter that can be used in many different applications. The clean power delivered by Samlex's PST Series Inverters is of the same quality and efficiency as the power provided by your utility company, which is not the case with the cheaper and more popular big box stores that carry modified sine inverters.
The Samlex PST-300-12 is a 12-volt PST series inverter with a wide DC operating range of 10.5 to 16.5 volts. This makes the PST-300-12 compatible with high-voltage DC charging, such as solar and equalization charging. Because of the heavy-duty chassis, the PST-300-12 can cool itself via convection, which allows for less fan runtime, leading to longer fan life and less no-load draw.
PLEASE NOTE: Many electrical devices require a good deal more Watts to start or energize than is required run once started. For instance an electric device may require only 250 watts to run but may need 800 watts to start. Please check with the manufacturer of your equipment to obtain minimum watts for starting operation of the equipment or device.
We highly recommend the use of Pure Sine Wave Inverters to power Computers and related peripheral devices; i.e. printers, optical drives, laser copiers, and if in doubt check with the manufacturer of your equipment.
Other devices that benefit when Pure Sine Wave power is used are variable speed control motors using solid state circuitry, Audio Amplifiers, Digital Clocks and Radios, Medical Equipment, Microwaves, etc.

Samlex PST 300 12
We used this to keep my daughter happy on an 18 hour drive. Kept the laptop charged so she could play some games and watch DVDs . Was a great babysitter :-)
Small enough to mount inside a car, powerfully enough to keep laptops, iPhones, and a GPS going with a powerstrip connected to it. Fan is very quiet
Cons:
Wish it had a volt meter on it, other than that, none.

Just what I wanted
Use this inverter at a cabin and so far no problems with the devices I have used. It looks like it should last a long time.

solex 300 watt pure sine wave inverter
For 300 Watts of pure sine wave electricity to run my sensitive electronics this was a great purchase. Comparatively for what i was looking for it was the obvious choice.
Cons:
The only bad thing is the very loud siren that sounds when power from my undersized (soon to be oversized) battery bank drops below 12volts. It serves its purpose well. i am just a whiney consumer in this aspect.

PST-300 In a tent
A simple "product use for dummies" manual might come in handy!
Excellent sturdy construction.
Fairly easy to use even by electrical dummies like me.
Very impressive customer support from Samlex!
Needed to know how to use this device in a small camping trailer and tent camping using solar maintained deep cycle battery. Called Samlex and questions were immediately answered by a Samlex engineer who answered them in such a way that even an inverter dummy like me could understand.
Cons:
None

Great manual
Haven't used the inverter yet, but I'm thoroughly impressed with the manual. Most products nowadays have a "manual" the size of a match book. The Samlex manual is thorough, detailed, concise, and explains in simplified form the considerations in wiring and using their products. Though not an electrical engineer, I have an extensive background in electronics, radar, and diagnostic medical imaging. While the average person may get bleary-eyed from reading it, I found the manual refreshing in its completeness and that it left no unanswered questions about the inverter. If that much thought and consideration went into the manual, I'm totally confident that the actual product will be of equally high quality.
