The reason for the small connectors is that those wires connect to each of the cells in the battery pack so that they will balance when being charged. This is the same for LiPo/LiFe batteries used in RC cars, planes, helicopters, and boats, etc. In fact, this is the same type of charger used there.

Not for its intended use which means somewhat rarely compared to standard batteries.

The Shorai battery is intriguing technology and much smaller and lighter than a lead acid battery of equivalent electrical capability. Unfortunately, both battery and charger do not appear to be made to normal automotive standards. My BatteryMINDer charger is very robust with a heavy cable and stout SAE style connectors with integral dust caps to keep the connectors clean when not connected. The Shorai falls far short in the robustness department.

The charger is very capable and developed specifically for the Shorai Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries.

The charger appears to be more of a consumer electronics device rather than an automotive device. The cables and connectors are very fragile looking and look more like what you would find in a computer than an automobile. And the cable that is meant to remain permanently attached to the motorcycle battery does not have a cover to keep the exposed connector clean when it is not in use with the charger.

I wish they had included more than just one set of cords. For the price, Two Sets would have been resonable. They include a cord set for each type of battery. I wish that when you order your unit they would account for the type of battery you have and put the proper cords in for TWo of the same battery. Otherwise, a great unit that does as advertised.

Nice Unit. Descent instructions. Did a great job recharging my battery after I had completely discharged it. The lights blinked back and forth for about 2.5 days then it went into charge mode, then took about a day and the battery was back to normall. I had left my bike for about 2 months with my alarm system on, draining the battery to just 3 volts. oops.

Just the fact the unit is not in a steel case. Since it's a garage item and will be subject to bumps and bangs, I dont hold much faith in the PLastic case. It does it's job well... i just hope i dont drop it on my cement floor.

I'm hoping that this charger will extend the life of my Shorai LFX batteries versus just using a Battery Minder. I'll try to remember to right a follow up review 6 months from now.

I like the fact that it plugs directly into the LFX series battery. In fact it comes with a short cable you can leave connected to the battery, to make it even easier to connect to the charger. I like that it's very small and light, and it has a built in hook so you can hang it from something.

I don't like the connectors. They are small and made of hard plastic. But maybe that's the best solution they had to keep things light weight. It will interesting to see how they hold up over the life of the charger.

I don't like that the STORE mode will actually discharge the battery. I guess their batteries like to be stored in a 60-80% state of charge. So if you fully charge the battery and then switch to STORE mode, it will actually discharge the battery down to 80%. They recommend hitting the CHARGE button before you actually use your vehicle. What a pain. That said, maybe a 60-80% charged battery will be enough to get your vehicle started. Your mileage may vary....

I also don't like that my unit didn't come with an AC power cord. I "think" this was a mistake on their part. It's a standard cord and I had an extra one lying around, so it wasn't a big deal.
