Tips and Tricks | Stay Cool in the Hot Summer Sun

Hot Summer Sun

Is it just me, or is it hot outside? Remember, motorcycle and ATV batteries can be damaged by extreme heat. If you can, keep your vehicles and batteries in the cool of the shade or indoors whenever possible. If you have a wet-cel or traditional flooded battery, please remember to check the fluid levels regularly. If they're low, just top them off with distilled water. Do not use tap water as this contains debris and elements that will ruin the chemistry of the electrolyte.

Solar panels, on the other hand, work best this time of year, if you know what I mean! Angle them towards the sun at peak sunlight (usually midday). Contrary to popular belief, solar panels to not convert heat into energy, but rather UV-Rays. Please allow at least 1 inch of space underneath the solar panel to help cool the panel. The solar cells need to "breathe" and it's important to have air circulation under the panel. As a matter of fact, overheating solar cells are actually less efficient. For more information, read our solar panel installation tips.

Be safe. Ride well. And remember to have a great summer!
