Tips and Tricks | Keeping Your Vehicle's Battery Alive

Posted on February 23, 2011
There is one component that can terminate your car’s performance - the battery. One could say your battery is the heart of your vehicle, and because of that fact, your battery, like your heart, requires maintenance, good care and the proper charger in order to support your vehicle’s life cycle. Without a functioning battery, your car or motorcycle will not start without a great deal of assistance and odds are other electronic components will not operate correctly either. There are four stages involved in charging your vehicle’s wet battery. read more...

Power When Away From Home | Using a Power Inverter

Posted on March 9, 2011
A power inverter running off a battery changes D.C. power to traditional A.C. power. You can use an inverter to supply power to devices such as televisions, microwaves, computers or power tools. They provide power in areas where you normally would not have access to standard 115-120 Volts AC from the power grid (ex: your home wall outlet). You simply connect the inverter to the battery and plug your device into the inverter. This is a great solution for having an easy to use, portable power supply. read more...

News Update | China Hat 2011 and Shorai LFX Batteries

Posted on April 21, 2011
With the arrival of Spring to at least most of the USA, we see a major increase in the number of batteries leaving our warehouse to be installed in all brands and types of Powersports applications. While we at BatteryStuff.com appreciate the ‘crazy season’, it always amazes me how many batteries give up the ghost over the long winter. Mostly this is due to poor, or nonexistent maintenance procedures. With the cost of commodities on the rise purchasing a new smart charger is currently one of the best investments you can make, certainly more than money in the bank! read more...

Tips and Tricks | Stay Cool in the Hot Summer Sun

Posted on July 6, 2011
Is it just me, or is it hot outside? Remember, motorcycle and ATV batteries can be damaged by extreme heat. If you can, keep your vehicles and batteries in the cool of the shade or indoors whenever possible. If you have a wet-cel or traditional flooded battery, please remember to check the fluid levels regularly. If they're low, just top them off with distilled water. Do not use tap water as this contains debris and elements that will ruin the chemistry of the electroylte. Be safe. Ride well. And remember to have a great summer! read more...

Battery Myth | How Much Does it Cost to Maintain a Motorcycle Battery?

Posted on March 7, 2012
It's time to be honest. Companies and experts will tell you that it's a good idea to keep your motorcycle battery on a trickle charger/maintainer. They'll claim, accurately so, how it will extend the life of your motorcycle, ATV, or other powersports battery. This is especially important to consider this practice if you let your big boy toys sit in storage during the winter months or off-season. But somehow or another, nobody ever mentions the cost involved in battery maintenance. Is it really worth it? Can't I just buy a cheap battery every 1-2 years instead of purchasing *gasp* a battery charger? read more...

Get To Know the Brand | Consider Scorpion Battery

Posted on April 2, 2012
When motorcycle batteries die, you might be hesitant about replacing it with an "aftermarket" brand battery. Now, years after purchasing your bike, you will find that the dealer wants to charge hundreds of dollars for another battery. At this point the thought enters your mind, surely just any 'ol motorcycle battery will do the trick, right? Be careful, however, because I’m sure you still want a quality battery to ensure many more years of life instead of buying cheap replacements every 1-2 years. Not a problem. There are batteries that meet OEM standards, without the OEM price. read more...

On-board Desulfator | Battery MINDer vs Pulse Tech

Posted on October 4, 2012
The PP12L and the OBD-12 are very similar. They are both on-board desulfators, not chargers. Because they do not put out any voltage or current, there is no need for AC power. They both hook up directly to the terminal posts of your battery system via positive and negative cables. Pulse Tech and Battery MINDer have slightly different patents on their sulfation removing algorithms, but both are just as effective when used long term. But which one is the best one for you? read more...
